    Description

Extremely rare vintage poster of Marilyn Monroe - I haven't seen another like it on the internet.  It's a 1983 advertisement for a birthday celebration for the legend at New York's famed Red Parrot club.
The Red Parrot, with its rotating stage and 10-foot high neon parrot in its foyer, was an iconic, massive New York City club; it was the size of a warehouse and spanned an entire block, between 57th and 58th Streets.  It opened New Year's Eve in 1980, and its first three New Year's Eves featured Cab Calloway and his orchestra. The disco regularly featured top name performers such as Madonna, Smokey Robinson, and Nancy Wilson.  A celebration there was sure to be the event of a lifetime.
This 17.25" x 15.25" poster advertises the then upcoming gala event, which was called "HAPPY BIRTHDAY NORMA JEAN!"  It reads, "inside NEW YORK in association with DALLAS PRESENTS HAPPY BIRTHDAY NORMA JEAN!  Please join us for this very special Birthday Party!  Wednesday, June 8th, 1983 10:00 p.m. at the Red Parrot [address and phone number of the club recited] Attire:  Some Like It Hot  Admission: .00". Beautifully designed, the poster features a gorgeous black and white image of the stunning actress; the black and white rendition made all the more striking by Marilyn's  crimson red lipstick, and the printing of only selective words in the same standout red color.
Kept as a memento by an attendant of the actual 1983 celebration, this fully original, unframed poster is in overall excellent vintage condition, with no age unrelated imperfections.  Fold marks are present; you can frame if they bother you, or display as is.
    Enjoy!
