Description
This is a group of 5 photographs in matching frames. Apparently there was, in the 1980's, a young man who contracted AIDS through a medical procedure. The nation was irrationally frightened by the then new disease, one result being that this kid was vilified, barred from his school, and in general hated for something he had no control over.'Awareness' in this case came in the form of gathering on The Mall in Washington, D. C. Attendees were asked ahead of time to crochet/knit/sew--whatever their skill--pieces and parts to bring. The assembled groups would then sit together and sew these many pieces together on the mall, making blankets out of them.
Frankly I am surprised that I cannot find more comparable items online. Therefore, I'll try the rare auction.
