Born in Los Angeles in 1987, Christopher Allwine has been exposed to the arts for as long as he can remember. As a child growing up in Los Angeles, his range of creative influence was present in nearly all facets of daily life - particularly from his film industry parents. His mother is a former traditional effects animator, and his father was a notable voice actor for The Walt Disney Company. As fate would have it, Allwine has inevitably find himself treading down an equally artistic path.
Looking to stand out from the crowd, Allwine challenged himself to master a style of photography that few artists utilize. He ultimately found his voice and style through the long-exposure technique of light painting. By augmenting his scenes with handheld light during exposure, he essentially treats his sites like a blank canvas, using cinematic and theatrical techniques to manage the composition, create mood, and lead the viewer’s eye. Although often misinterpreted by observers, Photoshop and/or digital renderings are not involved in his process.
Luminous, striking, and intriguing, his light painting works have been exhibited in top art shows all over southern California - predominantly within the artist colony of Laguna Beach. His night photography has been featured at all three of the city's major art festivals, including Sawdust Festival, Laguna Art-A-Fair, and the prestigious Festival of Arts. He has been a featured artist at several upscale galleries along the coast, including a solo exhibition at renowned muralist Wyland's studio gallery in downtown Laguna Beach. His limited edition photographs can be found in private collections worldwide.
